2016 SVRA Vintage Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio

The SVRA Vintage GP of Mid-Ohio never disappoints with the variety of car classes, history, proud owners and passion that goes on display every year.

This year was no exception, but for me personally it was a time of learning new skills, new equipment, and new shooting locations. So I don't come away from this year with as many shots as I would have liked, but it was a massively rewarding experience. That and the fact that this was the first time that my whole family attended with me. The kids loved it!

Please enjoy this selection of photos from Saturday.

2016 Ault Park Concours d'Élégance

Hot. That simple word can be used to describe two things this past Sunday. The outside temperature and $40mm+ worth of gorgeous machines sitting on a quiet Cincinnati park lawn. Dear Lord it was downright scalding, but semi-clear skies and the aforementioned automobile fortune helped produce some beautiful imagery at the 2016 Ault Park Concours d'Élégance.

2015 Mid-Ohio Vintage Grand Prix

Crack of dawn, cold and wet. The smell of high octane fuel and exhaust wafting through the air. Yes, my good friends. This was the start of the 2015 Vintage Grand Prix at my home track, Mid-Ohio. I woke up at 4am in order to make it to the track just before the opening events began. Let's get one thing straight though. I am not a morning person. Stay up all night? No probs. Even if I go to bed "early" I still just barely drag myself out of bed every morning. However, not this time. Oh no. Too much to see and experience!

Much Vintage Racing This Weekend

This week can't go by fast enough! I'm headed back to Ye Olde Mid-Ohio for this year's Vintage Grand Prix sponsored by Porsche. Good times will be had. Many epic vintage race cars will be seen, heard, smelled and experienced. Yep, even smelled. I still remember my first live race. One of the most potent parts of the experience were the smells of fuel, tires and general mechanical awesomeness. That combined with the sound of the cars blowing by is just... man... something you cannot replicate and just have to experience firsthand. But I digress.

Passion for Porsche with Magnus Walker

Passion, commitment and following your heart. That age old combination can drive one to do amazing things. Magnus Walker's passion for Porsche was ignited at the age of 10 while attending a London motor show in 1977. He came across a '77 Porsche 930 Martini Turbo at the show and the rest is history (by the way, Martini just so happens to be one of my favorite liveries in all of motorsport). That passion has driven him to become one of the world's most renowned Porsche restorers and enthusiasts.
